Cashmere Sweat Suits, Yesterday's Juicy Couture

Okay, shall we partake in the raising of hands? How many of you darlings were fashion creatures of the early 2000s? My hand is raised, it’s raised rather high.

I was not only a creature of that time, but I was also an absolute fashion monster. Whatever Paris was wearing, THAT was on my absolute MUST HAVE list. I truly didn’t care how ridiculous it looked.

When “The Girls Next Door” came out on the E! channel, guess who went bonkers at Kitson - buying every darn bunny item that was on the shelf? Oh hello, have we met?

Perhaps I should be embarrassed by this? I am… a smidgeon.

Admittedly, in my early 20’s, I found myself tied to a massive amount of credit card debt just trying to keep up with the Kardashians. There are so many lessons there that I will pass along to my son someday. For now, we’ll just keep them tucked away in this post.

One of my most favorite frocks that came from the early 2000s was the Juicy Couture velour tracksuit. Little did we understand at the time, the beginning of the athletic-leisure trend would begin with low rise sweat pants with the words “Juicy” indented in the back end, and a rather cropped zip up, with a J pull-zipper. Oh yes, I had this little concoction in every single color. I even had it in a shorts set. The velour tracksuit really was a staple product for every girl in LA, probably most throughout the country. The Juicy two-piece found itself on many celebrities too - from Jennifer Lopez to Jessica Alba, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera. Paris Hilton said at one time she had over 100 tracksuits, excuse me, come again? It was cool, comfortable, and looked great with a frappuccino and uggs.

After a few years, the style dissipated (as they do) into a thing of the past, and the multiple sets I had gone into debt for, sadly sat in the back of my drawer, taking up space, and eventually finishing their time at the Goodwill.

So, here we are today, jumping ahead 12 years. I’m reading this morning that the big trend in 2020 is…. tracksuits! I spilled out my coffee. You mean to tell me, we are molting our leggings for a matching sweatsuit, yet again? I’m absolutely shaking.

However, reading into this, I find a gray area, where comfort actually meets classic style - cashmere sweatsuits. These sweet rays of sunshine are warm and inviting, and also, look oh-so-fabulous with a cup of decaf in front of a fireplace. What’s more, they are completely acceptable in public and very wearable on an airplane (airport style is something I’ll be covering very soon..)

I’ve chosen a few cashmere sets that are just fabulous. Please have a look, let me know what you think, and promise me, no matter what, you won’t go into debt over sweatsuits…

xoxo, Angie
