Jessica Simpson, the Literary of Fashion

Okay, are we in agreement, that Jessica Simpson has overnight become one of the most fascinating celebrities of 2020? She’s released her memoir “Open Book” yesterday, a chronicle appropriately titled, and filled with tidbits of her life that spills the tea, on just about everything.

J-Simps is putting it all out there, and I mean out there, and you absolutely have to commend her for telling her story, her way. I’ve read excerpts from the book, and it’s clearly written like a Taylor Swift song because if she dated you, you’ll find yourself smack in the pages of that hardbound.

Interestingly, the John Mayer revelations seem to be the most intriguing of all. A bad boy that she couldn’t quite quit… until she did. His description of their “affairs” to Playboy Magazine eventually altered the course of the relationship in the end. Also revealed, the love-struck twosome broke up nine times - he’s the cat that keeps coming back, y’all. But really, how many girls are sympathetic to her cause - we all know “that one guy,” the one who keeps coming around when they are, ahem, least invited? Jess writes in the book that John Mayer was the ultimate demise of her relationship with football darling, Tony Romo.

Then, of course, there’s Nick Lachey, the good-guy we all loved to love. Jess and Nick were the cutest couple in the world throughout their MTV tenure, and most, if not all the girls I know were totally smitten by them both. We all swooned at his absolute darlingness toward her, (shall we name it without being offensive), blonde moments. Nick and Jess were couples’ goals to the umpteenth, so it should seem like a HUGE surprise that HE asked for HER to sign a prenup before they were married? Also, revealed in the book, they shared very little intimacy during the marriage. Jess also dropped a bomb, revealing that she and Dukes of Hazard co-star Johnny Knoxville, both married at the time, shared an emotional affair during filming. She writes that she and Johnny wrote love letters back and forth after their spouses fell asleep. Mind slightly blown.

Jess even gave a nod to Justin Timberlake, saying the two of them had a “thing” when they were younger, and even reconciled later on for a kiss post-Lachey era. Jess even called Justin out on a bet he had with Ryan Gosling about who could kiss the blonde bombshell first.

I feel like there’s sooo much more to read, and can’t wait to get my hands on the entire story. Also, it must be said, Jess looks absolutely, ridiculously fabulous. Her wardrobe during this book tour thus far has broken the internet, and I’m going to throw my hands up and say - a best-dressed celebrity of the year. From channeling Elle Woods in head-to-toe pink, and a pink trench that alone cost her $1800.00, to a sparkly little cropped jacket, all while bringing back the ever-fabulous leather trench and Jackie O glasses, she is showing us that she’s still a fashion goddess to be reckoned with, and I for one will reside in the grandstand clapping!!
